Refund Options

As of May 1, 2016, South Texas College began processing all student refunds and disbursements in the form of a paper check which are mailed to the address on file.

In order to avoid any possible delays in receiving your disbursements, please update your address and phone number in JagNet.

For your convenience, BBVA Compass Bank, the college’s depository bank, has agreed to cash South Texas College’s student refund checks free of charge. You will be required to present a photo ID to cash your refund check to comply with banking regulations.

Your refund preference is automatically defaulted to paper check however; you have the choice to select other refund preferences such as Direct Deposit to electronically deposit funds to your existing bank account.

Refund Method Options

Refund method How long it takes About this method
Direct Deposit

In most cases, normal process time is 2 business days beginning the day after the electronic file is processed.

  • What it is: Direct Deposit automatically places your refund into your checking or savings account.
  • What you need to do:Fill out the Student Direct Deposit Authorization Form and submit in person to your nearest Cashier’s Office.

Paper Check

In most cases, checks will be mailed out 2 business days AFTER the refund has been entered on the student account.

  • What it is: A check will be mailed to the address on file at South Texas College.
  • What you need to do: Ensure your mailing address is up to date in JagNet or the Office of Admissions and Records.

Update Your Address and Phone Number

All students are encouraged to update their address and phone number to avoid delays! Updates can be made through the college's JagNet portal. See instructions below.

  • If address needs to be updated, continue the remaining steps
  • On "Addresses and Phones" (step 5 from Verifying your Contact Information)
  • Under Billing click: "Current:"
